General Felony prosecutions concern the well-known offenses with which most people are familiar, such as Larceny, Robbery, Forgery, Burglary, Embezzlement, or Arson.
However, the category includes a huge variety of crimes and often involves charges which are the subject of current discussion, such as gang-related crimes, environmental crimes, computer crimes, and identity theft.
It is easier to define the offenses which are not General Felony:
- Domestic Violence
- Child Abuse,
- and Sex Crimes
all of which are prosecuted by our Special Victims Unit; crimes concerning possession, distribution or manufacturing of narcotics are handled by the Narcotics prosecutors; nearly everything else is considered General Felony.
